The School psychologist develops strategies and interventions to assist students in succeeding; measures and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children; interprets results of psychological studies; interprets and applies state and federal codes.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Assesses students' functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining student's functional level and developing recommendations and/or placement.
  3. Assists other staff for the purpose of developing and applying student monitoring systems and designing academic and behavioral interventions.
  4. Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g. administrators, teachers, nurse, parents, mental health agencies, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of producing a comprehensive screening/ evaluation report in compliance with established guidelines.
  5. Consults with teachers, parents, and/or other outside personnel or professionals to providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.
  6. Work in partnership with the Behavior Support team and other school staff to implement school wide program development and program evaluation (e.g. MTSS, PBIS) for ensuring effective programs to assist children who experience physical, mental, social and emotional difficulties.
  7. Counsels students, parents and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success in school.
  8. Participate in the eligibility process and development of Individual Education Plans, Individual Family Support Plans, and 504 plans by providing recommendations for services and interventions.
  9. Keep abreast/communicate promising best practices/developments related to support student’s social emotional well-being.
  10. Provide in-service training to administrators, teachers, and parents on selected topics.
  11. Serve as member of the Crisis Response Team.
  12. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Education and Training: (or equivalent)

 

Master’s degree in School Psychology from an accredited education al institution

AND

Florida Statement of Eligibility as a School Psychologist.

 

CPI Trained (Current) or able to secure this within 90 days of employment.

 

 

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience as a School Psychologist.
  • Strong understanding of MTSS for the purpose of interpreting the data to intervene, offering interventions and eventually determining eligibility if required.
  • Considerable knowledge of consultation, psychological and psycho educational assessment, academic and behavioral interventions, counseling, measurement and research, and program planning/evaluation;
  • Effective oral and written communication; ability to make sound professional decisions.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
